"Early Work" reunites iconic works from the Nineties comprising installations, sculptures, neon works and photographs. From the early stages of her career, Swiss artist Sylvie Fleury (b. 1961) utilizes the world of fashion and luxury goods and its inherent mechanisms of commercialisations as her playground of artistic expression. Highlights of the present exhibition are two "Untitled" installations, exemplary of her modus of creating contemporary allegories of desires. The monumental sculpture of galvanised steel "First Spaceship on Venus", 1994, on the other hand, is an iconic statement of Fleury’s infatuation and delightfully humorous appropriation of overtly chauvinist symbols.
