Luca Pancrazzi – Volare Nuvolare
July 18, 2022 to September 03, 2022
This summer Galerie Andrea Caratsch is delighted to present a new group of paintings by Italian artist Luca Pancrazzi, following up on a previous exhibition in the same space in winter 2015-16. Painting is the subject even if we look at gliders floating through clouds and above Engadine mountain peaks. The technique follow the artist’s well-known approach of applying multiple layers of white on a raw canvas, presenting the viewer with sublimely calm variations on a chosen theme. The title of the exhibition is a word play in Italian: “Volare, Nuvolare”- where a verb becomes a noun -from flying to flight- and a noun becomes a verb- signifying something like clouding, making clouds or becoming cloudy. The artist explains: “Here the register outside the register (beyond the perceptible) is time. My painting consists of layers… The medium between the layers is passing time that causes the painted picture to only imprecisely – outside the register-agree with what is remembered”.
