Dokoupil – Schaumbilder

This summer, Galerie Andrea Caratsch is pleased to present the exhibition Schaumbilder by Czech artist Dokoupil from July 28th to September 8, 2023.
The show examines different typologies of foam paintings, a distinctive series of Dokoupil’s multi-facetted oeuvre. The work Das Leben ist Endlich from 2000 acts as a prologue to the two later groups of foam paintings displayed. Around 2012, the artist experimented with filigree formation of same-coloured foam evenly covering the entire canvas. Whereas a couple of years later already, Dokoupil finds again a more dramatic language- playing around with distinct layers of colours and foam.
